Charge is applied to four drums The four drums are Black (K), Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.
The three color drums get a uniform charge applied by the Bias Charge Rolls (BCR) located above each color drum.
The black drum is larger than the color drums for two reasons, first to better handle the increased speed of B&W images and second to increase life of the drum. A Charge Scorotron is used to charge the Black Drum. This increases reliability and reduces contamination problems. The Charge Scorotron is located above the Black Drum.
